Dear all,

 Weak economic data, oil prices weigh on markets

Ø  Benchmark indices ended lower on Monday amid rising concerns over world economic growth coupled with the relentless fall in international crude oil prices.

Ø  Global risk appetite was weak as volatility in Chinese economy and decline in global crude prices put pressure on Asia.

   Global Macro

Ø  India's exports decreased 14.75% YoY in December of 2015 to USD 22.29bn. Imports fell by 3.88% to USD 33.96bn.

Ø  U.K house price index rose slightly by 0.5% MoM in January of 2016, in contrast to a 1.1% decrease in December of 2015.

  Corporate Buzz

Ø  Wipro reported a 0.1% QoQ decline in net profits to INR 22.34bn in 3QFY16 while revenue grew by 3% QoQ  to INR 129.5bn in 3QFY16.

Ø  Asian Paints reported 25.8% YoY rise in consolidated net profit to INR 4.63bn in 3QFY16. Net sales grew by 13.9% YoY to INR 41.0bn in 3QFY16.

Ø  TTK Prestige reported a 32.57% YoY rise in net profit to INR 0.37bn in 3QFY16. Net sales grew by 16.7% YoY to INR 3.83bn in 3QFY16.

Ø  Mindtree reported 7.2% YoY rise in profit to INR 1.5bn in 3QFY16. Revenue grew by  33.2% YoY to INR 12.14bn in 3QFY16.

Ø  Karnataka bank reported 9.4% YoY decline in net profit to INR 0.96bn in 3QFy16. Total income increased to INR 13.69bn in 3QFY16 as against INR 13.64 in 3QFY15.

Ø  Kotak Mahindra bank reported 36.6% YoY rise in net profit to INR 6.34bn in 3QFY16. Net interest income rose by 66.7% YoY to INR 17.66bn in 3QFY16.

Ø  Tata Steel announced to cut 1,050 jobs to save on costs and improve its competitiveness.

Ø  Maruti Suzuki India reduced the price of its premium crossover S-Cross by over INR 0.2mn after failing to gain traction in the market.

Ø  Suzlon Group bagged two 50.4 MW order from Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd and National Aluminium Company for installation additional wind power capacity.

Ø  Axis bank bought 200,000 sq ft of space at The Ruby office complex in the Dadar West area for INR 3.2bn.

Ø  Natco Pharma received approval for Lansoprazole or Prevacid generic. Lansoprazole used to treat stomach & intestinal ulcers. Widely used antacid, over the counter drug.

Ø  Reliance Communication and Reliance Jio announced agreements for trading and sharing of scarce airwaves, or radio frequency spectrum, in the 800 MHz band.

Ø  Wockhart expects to comply with all of the US Food and Drug Administration's observations on its Shendra plant in two months.

Ø  Tata Motors Ltd hired former Airbus Group executive Guenter Butschek as its new chief executive.

  Outlook

Ø  Markets are likely to open on a cautious note amidst resumption of sell-off in Asian markets.
