Global Outlook '16-17
The world economy has been slowing down with expected recovery to be rather shallow and surrounded by risks. While on one hand the largest advanced economies such as US and the EU are experiencing continuing recoveries or maturing cycles, the central scenario of a 'soft landing' in China is still subject to substantial risks. Other emerging markets are exposed - to varying degrees - to financial vulnerability heightened by the turn of the interest-rate cycle in the US and the dollar's appreciation, to structural weaknesses, geopolitical tensions and the sharp drop in a wide range of commodity prices. It is not all bad news though. There are a few bright spots in this relatively gloomy picture of global growth with some emerging economies such as India, Philippines, Indonesia and Vietnam expected to garner interests of the Global Investor.
