Metal and mining stocks declined. Hindustan Copper (down 4.28%), Vedanta (down 0.71%), NMDC (down 0.09%), Hindustan Zinc (down 0.54%), Hindalco Industries (down 0.19%), JSW Steel (down 0.19%) and Steel Authority of India (down 0.1%) edged lower. Jindal Steel & Power (up 3.38%) and Tata Steel (up 0.01%) edged higher. National Aluminium Company was unchanged at Rs 47.75.
Meanwhile, copper prices edged higher in global commodities markets. High Grade Copper for September 2016 delivery was currently up 0.21% at $2.1445 per pound on the COMEX.
