The government has imposed fines of Rs3.2bn on telecom operators in nine months of the current fiscal for violating rules pertaining to verification of subscribers. It has however recovered only Rs621.5mn from them. Penalty of Rs737.6mn was imposed on BSNL, Rs502.5mn on Vodafone, Rs437.3mn on Tata, Rs417.6mn on Idea, Rs402.0mn on Reliance, Rs387.0mn onAirtel and Rs14.4mn on Uninor among others. (ET)
